Whitey Bulger Hand Written Letter Photo Signed "Alcatraz / On the Run" JSA COA from Cellmate
Mafia Collectors, this item is your calling! Check out this handwritten and signed letter by mafia boss James "Whitey" Bulger! This letter was penned by Bulger while in federal prison at USP Tucson, AZ. We acquired a collection of handwritten letters on photos by Bulger's cellmate while in Tucson. Please see the attached photo in this listing of a letter directly from his cellmate explaining his time with Whitey "locked up" together and see the photo of the two of them together while in prison (the photo of the men wearing the gold and gray clothing). We have redacted his information but if you purchase this item, you will receive a full copy of his letter, unredacted & a copy of the picture of them together.
These letters were written back in 2014 and in each letter it displays a photo of something or someone that either Whitey knew or something related to moments of his time in Alcatraz or Alcatraz history or topics related to crime and the mafia. On the other side of each photo is where he penned in his own hand about the subject on the other side of the photo and his take on that subject. Many of the photos he signed with his full name and his Alcatraz inmate number (1428 AZ) or different inmate ID numbers he had over the years in different prison systems during his lifetime. Many of the letters we received are subjects that include: Al Capone, Richard Tuffle who wrote the screenplay for Escape from Alcatraz, Robert Stroud aka "The Birdman", Clarence Carnes & "Battle of Alcatraz", Kawakita Tomoya from Kawakita v. United States Supreme Court case and Whitey's very first prison mug shot.
This specific listing is for the Richard Tuggle letter. This is an interesting letter here where Whitey is bragging about where he lived and alias while he was on the run. He lived in Santa Monica, CA and listed his exact old address and the name him and his girlfriend were going by "The Gasko's". What is ironic which is why he is writing this, pictured on the front of the letter is Richard Tuggle standing in front of the sign of both of their apartment complex in a candid photo where they both lived. Richard who was the screenplay writer of Escape from Alcatraz who he said ended up living in the same neighborhood as him, and he would see him around the neighborhood. It's clear that even into his 80s, Whitey was very much into himself and had to let it be known he was watching Tuggle to state the detail and irony of the connection that Tuggle at the time never realized. Letter measures approximately 4' x 6" in size.
Please note that his handwriting at times is very hard to read, so we have done our best to translate the wording for you but please know we could be off a word or few in the translated plain text. We do not guarantee the wording is correct and if you purchase this item, you have been made aware of this in advance.
The letter states:“Richard Tuggle – Wrote Escape From Alcatraz ScreenplayApt 393 - 1012 3rd St. Santa Monica, CAPrincess Eugenie Apartments“The Gaskos” aka The Bulger Family!Lived there for 15 yearsTuggle lived in neighboorhood - wanted to visit buildingHad seen him in the park on our walks there never knew him.
