Whitey Bulger Hand Written Signed Framed Prison Letter about "Al Capone" Mafia JSA COA
Mafia Collectors, this item is your calling! Check out this AUTHENTIC FBI Wanted Poster and handwritten and signed letter with by mafia boss James "Whitey" Bulger! This letter was penned by Bulger while in federal prison at USP Tucson, AZ. We acquired a collection of handwritten letters on photos by Bulger's cellmate while in Tucson. Please see the attached photo in this listing of a letter directly from his cellmate explaining his time with Whitey "locked up" together and see the photo of the two of them together while in prison (the photo of the men wearing the gold and gray clothing). We have redacted his information but if you purchase this item, you will receive a full copy of his letter, unredacted & a copy of the picture of them together.
This piece includes an actual WANTED poster from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that dates back to being released on June 20, 1997. It is the earliest and very first Wanted poster ever released of Bulger where it even shows his girlfriend Catherine Grieg on it with short hair. The very next poster released by the FBI which was 1 month or so after this one came out shows her with long hair which is why the FBI re-did the Wanted poster all together, so it showed her with a most likely better depiction of what she may look like in better hopes of catching both of them. So not only do you get the autographed letter by Whitey of one of the most notorious Gangsters of all time, but you also get an extremely rare original and authentic (non replica) Wanted poster of the crime boss!! Wow!!
These letters were written back in 2014 and in each letter it displays a photo of something or someone that either Whitey knew or something related to moments of his time in Alcatraz or Alcatraz history or topics related to crime and the mafia. On the other side of each photo is where he penned in his own hand about the subject on the other side of the photo and his take on that subject. Many of the photos he signed with his full name and his Alcatraz inmate number (1428 AZ) or different inmate ID numbers he had over the years in different prison systems during his lifetime. Many of the letters we received are subjects that include: Richard Tuffle who wrote the screenplay for Escape from Alcatraz, Robert Stroud aka "The Birdman", Clarence Carnes & "Battle of Alcatraz", Kawakita Tomoya from Kawakita v. United States Supreme Court case and Whitey's very first prison mug shot.
This specific listing is for the Al Capone letter. Whitey goes into talking about Al Capone's life from start to end and how he compared his time in Alcatraz to when Al was there being in a cell just above him years later. Letter measures approximately 3 3/4' x 4 3/4" in size. On the back of the letter is a picture of Al Capone which is why he was discussing him as the main topic in the letter. We knew we couldn't obviously frame and show both sides of the letter so we displayed the signature then scanned and copied the exact photo of Capone as found on the back of the letter and placed the exact copy as the photograph of Al Capone as seen in the frame to make the piece even more true and authentic!
Please note that his handwriting at times is very hard to read, so we have done our best to translate the wording for you but please know we could be off a word or few in the translated plain text. We do not guarantee the wording is correct and if you purchase this item, you have been made aware of this in advance.
The letter states:
