This is a true piece of Football history as back in 1972, the Dolphins went Undefeated, a perfect 17-0 record season, a feat that no other team in NFL History has been able to accomplish. This helmet is an authentic on field 1970s style helmet also known as a "TK Helmet". The TK helmets don't even have padding on the inside like they do in today's football helmets, but have rope webbing throughout, which is how the helmets were designed and used back in that era of early 1970s football. The TK helmets have been discontinued by Riddell and no longer made by them, so not only are you getting an incredible "authentic for the times" style helmet, but you are getting autographs of one of if not the greatest team ever assembled in NFL history. This helmet was signed by all members of the team at a 1972 Dolphins Reunion Show in Chantilly, VA on October 12, 2014.
In addition, most team signed items of the Dolphins that are out there are missing 1 valuable signature to the helmet, Jake Scott, their Safety. He has now passed away but while he was alive even, Jake was the toughest as he often passed on any sort of reunion activities with the team when they do rarely get together. Why is Jake Scott so important to this team? Well, he was the MVP of the Super Bowl for this team, so he is one of the most essential signatures collectors look for on a team signed Super Bowl item. In addition to his signature, he did inscribe it with the "MVP VII Super Bowl" inscription! Jake's signature you will see is at the top of the Dolphin's logo on the right side of the helmet. Yes, some of the signatures on the helmet are a little smeared, but the helmet pictured in the listing is the exact one you will be receiving, so please be aware of some of the autographs conditions on this item. Lastly, there are 28 signatures on the helmet but 27 Dolphins players signed it as Jim Kiick accidentally signed it twice, one on each side of the helmet. As of early 2023, there are already 8 signatures on this helmet where players are deceased, so this helmet as substantially increased in value, especially since some of the members of the team that have since passed are key names with the team. This helmet will only go up in value from here as the further away we move from the year 1972, replicating a helmet like this is going to be impossible.
