You have come to us to discover what are the best sports memorabilia cases out there to protect your autographs, movie props, game used equipment & other sports & entertainment memorabilia. We will give you in-depth expert advice on great cases available in today's case market!
Please know cases all come down to preference and what suits you best for your item and how you want to display your memorabilia!! Instead of giving you step by step detailed advice, we will approach it a different way and explain the options out there and you will come to your own conclusion but with some assistance of course!! The cases we discuss today are some of if not the best quality cases on the market! These cases are not available in retail stores and much better quality than cases you would find at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, The Container Store, Walmart, etc.
First things first, the #1 most important thing to keep in mind of when choosing a case is FADING!!! Autographs naturally fade over time, there is not much you can do to stop it but at the end of the day, there are ways to slow down the process. There are natural elements in the air that you may not realize could speed up the process and just time itself will catch up to your item. The #1 reason your autographs are fading is because of the type of pen & ink used to get signed! Although we will not go into that much depth here in this post about fading, just know adding a case is certainly a great way to slow down the process and assist you with displaying your signatures for a very very long time! For more information on fading,
check out our blog post here. Just keep in mind, keep autographs away from all lights as much as possible and always no matter what, 100% away from sunlight at all times!!
You now have to decide what type of material your case is going to be! In terms of cases, there are 2 main types of materials used for cases they are GLASS OR PLEXI-GLASS! The differences mainly are this:
-
-
GLASS does look nicer when on a shelf or placed on a desk or area but that comes with issues.... GLASS cases are usually more expensive and usually come with a very nice base it attached to, to give your autograph or memorabilia a very very nice way to show it off! Now, this is not scientifically proven but from what we have seen, autographs in a glass case fade further and it may just have to do with the "magnifying effect" glass gives off. Ever taken a magnifying glass and started chasing the sun to make whatever is on the ground "burn" more or less, well I am sure you can see how badly that usually goes and can see the damage from when the sun and glass meet. Now they do have UV protected glass cases but how much UV they actually block we can't say because every case is different. We have seen autographs come to us in worse condition that were in a glass case then a plexiglass case and signed around the same time using sharpie markers (which we do not recommend to get your autograph signed in, go with a paint pen rather than a marker). Now if your autograph or item is not in direct light through the day, then you won't have to worry as much about a glass case and it's cons but it will absolutely look nicer than a plexiglass case most of the time. One other thing to keep in mind about with a glass case is that GLASS shatters so keep it away from an edge at all times and be cognizant of the case as you never know with glass, anything can happen with it and can damage the item displayed in it from the impact of glass breaking. Be careful of getting cut by glass.

PLEXIGLASS has a lot more upside to it than glass. First off it is cheaper than glass cases most of the time which is a big positive. Also, if the cases falls to the ground for whatever reason, it will not shatter like glass does into a million pieces, it usually will just crack rather than shatter but all that depends also how high it is displayed and how far it travels to hit the ground. Plexiglass cases most of the time have UV protection manufactured into them to prevent fading but always just check to see what the manufacturer of the cases says in terms of how much protection the cases has in terms of blocking off UV rays. Just because they say it is 99% UV protected does not mean your autograph will not fade so still even with a plexiglass case we do not recommend keeping your autograph or item in any light at any time during the day.

We will come out here and say your best option to go with between a GLASS CASE & PLEXI-GLASS case is to go with a PLEXI-GLASS case as we believe the positives of it outweigh the positives of a GLASS CASE.
Some great examples of cases we recommend can be found in our online for you to take a look at HERE but take a look at some of the best options below.
These deluxe plexiglass display cases we carry are going to be a great option for most and our most highly recommended choice out of the rest below. These cases have a plexiglass clear display with a plastic base. In addition, to make them look even fancier they have gold risers (on most cases) on the base and a mirror back to make the item seem larger and more grand with that effect. On our online store, we have cases like this made for basketballs, footballs, baseballs, hockey pucks, mini helmets, full-size helmets & more! If you are looking for a case that is very nice looking that is not that expensive and does its job, go with these.
For those collectors that love the "museum look" for displaying your memorabilia! Then go with a traditional glass case!! These cases look elegant immediately to the eye and even include fancy cherry wood or dark brown bases which include having a mirror to make your autograph POP! from every angle!! Glass cases have for long dominated the sports memorabilia industry and continue to do so because of the high-end look they give to any office or man cave!!
Looking for a non-traditional means of displaying your items?! If you are looking to take your case to a whole next level, then this is your case! This case is a plexiglass case where it arrives flat and you assemble the case into a treasure!! These cases enable you to display any photo of your choice as the background for the item you want to display! You can make a very cool display with these cases where you can take an action shot of a moment and combine it with the uniqueness of the case. For example, check out the photo with LeBron James below where they took an action shot of him dunking the ball and matched it up to where the movement of the ball would be on the dunk!! Wow! This is the best case in our opinion on the market. They are pricey but a display case is meant to protect your memorabilia mainly, not only does this case do that but also adds a substantial amount of emotion to the item being displayed unlike any other case on the market!! If you are looking for a case that POPS! when people walk into the man cave or game room, then this is the case for you that will get all the attention!! These cases come in 2 different sizes one that is smaller for items like a hockey puck, baseball, tennis ball, golf ball, etc. The other size case is the Large one where it holds bigger items like full-size helmets, basketballs, shoes, etc.
This may seem like a totally different subject or not but at the end of the day, you also need to figure out a way to display your jerseys! We always advise getting your jersey professionally custom framed as the display cases for jerseys on the market are very plain for the most part. Most of them you put your valuable jersey on a hanger if you would and then let it droop down usually with no other elements like photos, logos or mementos you wish to display. Jersey display cases are certainly cheaper than professional custom framing but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for! If you want your friend to walk in your office and be blown away by your amazing jersey on the wall, go with professional framing!! A professional framer can most likely incorporate almost anything into your frame and make it look great at the same time!! Spend the extra money and save up to pay for the better option!! Go big or go home!! Contact us today about professionally custom framing your jersey for you as we offer the highest end framing at a fraction of the price as your local mom & pop shop!!
