This is a very very rare signed document of the inventor of the light bulb as it in an internal document from Edison at his time at general electric, the company he founded. It is an amazing letter as Edison is responding to a request from his general electric pensioned employees department to continue on with Mr. Charles Wurth's $25 a month retirement pension! This is very cool because it is coming from one of the most famous inventors ever, who is credited with a record 1093 patents in his lifetime!!
This letter was obtained (After being passed down many years) From the family of William Henry Meadowcroft, Edison's famous personal assistant & vice president of his general electric company. In addition, William H. Meadowcroft responded to this letter & signed it right after his comment halfway on the page!!! Meadowcroft hand wrote: "no-he is in the 80s" then he signed it right after a dated it 1/13/18 (1918). Meadowcroft is also an accomplished author and credited as the man who kept Edison's works & inventions under wraps from the public until it was time to notify the public.
These documents very rarely come to surface in the general public if you do you you will see internal general electric Edison documents are non-! Mr. Edison responded to this letter in his own handwriting that reads "ok. Keep up the payment, he worked faithfully for me for many years" following by his Thomas a. Edison signature
this letter is over 100 years old as it was dated on the signed as written on December 23, 1918!!
In addition to the signed page, you will also the 2 other pages that do not bare his signature but are indirect responses to this letter and issue at hand that Edison was dealing with!
